Art Funded by you

Fiesta

Fujio Akai, 2004

© Fujio Akai

This is a large enveloping work that draws you into an intense sea of colour. It is predominately red and pink with yellow, orange, marked with green and blue. Although the work is abstract it undoubtedly is based on reality and events. Japanese cultural traditions have had an important influence on Fujio's artistic practice and output which reflects a fusion of east and western traditions. One of the key aims of the Edwin Young collection is the promotion of the media of watercolour and this work shows the medium being explored in a new and vibrant manner.
