A Chinese Buddhist figure of the Compassionate Bodhisattva or Kuan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy in Buddhism. Represents fusion of early Chinese style with incoming Indian influences. Figures of this quality from this period are rare as most metal sculpture was melted down during the persecution of Buddhism in 845 AD.
