French Cyclists and a Girl

Christopher Wood, 1901–1930

Christopher Wood was killed by a train (probably suicide) at the age of 29, but by this time the lyrical freshness of his work had already won him a high reputation in France as well as Britain. His friends included Cocteau, Diaghilev and Picasso. This attractive work was given to the donor by the actor Dirk Bogarde.
