Gold ring

Unknown artist, 1480–1520

Common type of ring with a round bezel standing clear of the hoop. The hoop is decorated on the exterior with 2 grooves which intersect to provide a pattern of 5 lozenges and are keyed for enamel of which no trace remains. The inside of the hoop is engraved in Gothic lettering. Bezel engraved with an outer circle of crosses, within which there is an inscribed scroll.
