
The smallest of two versions painted in oils of his drawings for 'The Graphic' entitled 'Gone - Euston Station - Departure of Emigrants 9.15 train for Liverpool September 1875'. This was a theme common in Victorian painting with the emigration of able-bodied men to seek employment in America and the families they left behind.
