Group of aerial photographs
Alfred Buckham, 1916–1935
This is a group of 20 prints chosen from Captain Buckham's own exhibition prints. Captain Buckham was head of aerial reconnaissance during the First World War, based in Scotland. He continued to work as an aerial photographer after the war and his photography has an underlying heroism. However it is also remarkable for an originality of vision offered by the new view of the world, which refers back to a Romantic tradition.
