This work depicts Vaughan's house at Toppesfield in Essex. The artist spent the last 13 years of his life in North West Essex and this is his first work to be acquired by Fry Art Gallery. Vaughan was part of a circle of artists living in and around Great Bardfield where Edward Bawden and Eric Ravilious lived.
