Art Funded by you
Head of a Lion
Unknown artist, 16th century
The lion holds an iron ring in its mouth. This ring must have been used for mooring boats and the sculpture was no doubt a detail of decoration on the facade of an important building. Part of a collection of architectural sculpture from Morton's House, Corfe Castle, Dorset.
