Art Funded by you

Hope

Kyoko Kumai, 2009

Museums Sheffield was one of five museums and galleries to win a share of £75,000 to buy their selected object thanks to Art Fund Collect, an initiative in collaboration with the Crafts Council, aimed at championing contemporary craft and increasing its presence in UK collections. These three pieces, acquired to mark the 2013 centenary of the invention of stainless steel in Sheffield, are typical of the artistÂ’s output. Ephemeral, soft and almost wistful they have been woven from waste filaments to form delicate, organic forms.
