Art Funded by you

If Hobbema Had Seen Ireland

Jeremy Henderson, 1989

© Jeremy Henderson

County Fermanagh landscape with a single tree to the right of the composition. The clouds are given semi-calligraphic treatment and the sky occupies 80% of the picture. The overall composition, the strange mixture of light in the sky, and the evocative mood of the landscape are all reminiscent of the Dutch artist Hobbema (1638-1709). Purchased by the Art Fund with the assistance of the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
