Art Funded by you

Lady Prudence Pelham

David Jones, 1930

© The artist's estate

Jones became involved with Prudence Pelham, the daughter of the sixth Earl of Chichester, whilst staying with Eric Gill in 1929/30. Prudence married another man and Jones suffered a nervous breakdown in 1932. This is a rare portrait by the artist and suggests the spiritual aspects of the subject as well as offering a physical likeness.
