Marriage of Antiochus and Stratonice

A small circular panel from a cassone. A companion to 'An Incident in the Story of the Vestal Claudia' which is also included in the bequest. One of six paintings bequeathed by Gaspard Farrer which previously belonged to his father Sir William Farrer, one of the best-known collectors of Italian pictures in the late nineteenth century. The 6 works were part of a larger bequest which included pictures, prints, Oriental ceramics and silver plate.
