Ben Hartley moved to rural Devon and taught in Plymouth for many years after he graduated from the Royal College of Art. He went on to live and work in the South West of England for nearly 20 years. This is the first example of Ben Hartley's work to enter the Victoria Art Gallery's collections, and will complement other works by artists from the South West in the collection. 'Milk Time' will initially be included in the 'Saved for Ever' exhibition (8 October - 27 November 2011), examining the history of public patrimony that has formed the major part of the Victoria Art Gallery's collection. The gallery will be hosting an exhibition of Hartley's work entitled 'Ben Hartley: Another Look' at the same time.
