Pair of sideboard dishes

Edward Cornelius Farrell, 1824

© National Trust Photographic Library

These dishes follow the fashion for revival silverware set by Rundell, Bridge and Rundell for the future George IV. The centre of the dishes are engraved with the arms of Fetherstonhaugh within a cartouche after a design by Stefana della Bella. The armorial shield is surmounted by two fighting seahorses, whose tails curl beside the shield.
