Albert Chevallier Tayler, 1906

A portrait of Ernest William Hornung 1862 -1921 who made a name for himself as one of the literary elite of late Victorian and early Edwardian England. Hornung was born in Middlesbrough and became famous as the creator of Raffles, the Gentlemen Thief. He was a friend to many authors and artists including Oscar Wilde and married the sister of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in 1893.
