Art Funded by you
Portrait of Mlle Albertine Hayard
Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, 1812

© National Galleries of Scotland
Like so many of Ingres' portrait drawings, this charming study was made in Rome when he was a pensionnaire at the Villa Medici and largely dependent for his income on pencil portraits of visitors to the city. It is one of a collection of portraits of the sitter's family all drawn by Ingres at this time.
