Quaich

Hugh Ross I, c. 1710–1720

The quaich is a quintessentially Scottish form of drinking vessel. This quaich is the work of either Hugh Ross I or Hugh Ross II, who worked in Tain during the first half of the 18th century. Works by either of these silversmiths is very rare and this quaich will compliment a tot cup by Hugh Ross I, which was ArtFunded in 2000 and carries the same maker's mark as this quaich.
