Silver quaich

John Luke, 1704

Scottish type of cup, cuach or quaich. The engraved decoration consists of lines indicating the stave form and binding of the early wooden examples, and the pattern of rose and tulip heads being derived from Dutch metalwork. Struck with the maker's mark and dated 1704.
