Square pianoforte

Johannes Zumpe, 1767

The keyboard has ivory naturals and ebony accidentals and the action is the standard type for Zumpe which eventually developed into that of the modern pianoforte. It is double strung throughout and has two hand-operated levers. The casework is entirely original including the lid and stand. It is the earliest square piano in England in its original condition.
