The Arch

James Pryde, 1926

This painting depicts a group of figures grouped on a flight of steps which leads to an arch set in the fragments of a lofty building through which there is a view of the sky and other buildings. In the foreground on the left is another columnar fragment of a tall building. This is a characteristic example of the artist's original style.
