Art Funded by you

The Avenue

Francis Towne, 1800

This is possibly a study of trees at Peamore Park near Exeter, where Towne frequently painted. A successful painter in oils for local patrons, he is most admired today for his watercolours, unknown during his lifetime. These are executed in an economic and individual style that stands out from the work of his contemporaries.
