The 'Dreadnought' off Greenwich

Clarkson Stanfield, 1850–1857

Between 1830-57, the seaman's hospital ship, the 'Dreadnought' was used as a seaman's hospital and lay off Greenwich. Bought as a memorial by parents and friends of a young member of the Art Fund and an Old Etonian killed in a car crash in 1967, Adrian Mark Palmer. Picture chosen because the family had been seafaring.
