Jean I Berain, 1690–1699

It is a tapestry from the series of 8 Grotesques de Berain inspired by Raphael and depicts strolling players in theatrical costume. Jean Berain was designer in the Beavais workshops where Philippe Behagle was director and Jean Baptiste Mannoyer was flower painter. The date of weaving is unknown, but it is post 1689.
