The Revd. and Rt Hon. Richard Hill of Hawkstone (1654-1727) was Deputy Paymaster to the army during the Dutch War in the 1690s and subsequently in the diplomatic service during the war of the Spanish Succession. He inherited the estate at Hawkstone in 1700.
