The Sacrifice of Jephtha's Daughter
Giovanni Battista Pittoni, not dated

Jephtha, in armour and a red cloak, stands on a flight of steps holding a dagger in his right hand pointed towards his daughter who kneels in front of a pedestal surmounted by a flaming urn. They are at the centre of a crowded , animated and emotive scene. This painting is a modello for the large canvas at the Palazzo Reale in Turin.
