The German-born artist Kurt Schwitters is renowned for his pioneering use of found objects and everyday materials to make abstract collages and installations. After the Nazis came to power he fled his homeland, living first in Norway and then from 1940 in England. These three hand-held sculptures were all made during his final years and are excellent examples of his imaginative use of materials.
