Very Large Lidded Jar
Edmund de Waal, 2001

The jar is made from wheel thrown and constructed porcelain. The surface has been impressed and applied with seal marks and then glazed with pale blue celadon. The jar represents a shift in the artist's work away from a domestic scale to consider architectural space and context.
