These lake pleasure boats would have been used principally by royal parties for recreation. It is known that George IV used one of the boats to carry the brass band that he retained to play on the water. The twin peaks which appear among the trees to the right, belong to the magnificent tent of Tipu Sultan. This tent was pitched on occasion at Egham Races to accommodate royal parties.
