Festival: Robert Burns in Perthshire with Donald Paton

6 September 2024
18:30

A talk exploring the two visits that the national Bard made to Perthshire in 1781 with Burns expert Donald Paton.

Much has been written on Robert Burns’ early days in Ayrshire and on his later years in Dumfries. He was, however, a well-travelled poet and songwriter, not least to the fair city of Perth and its yet-fairer countryside. This talk covers the two visits that Burns made to Perthshire and the surrounding area during the late summer and autumn of 1787 which resulted in a wealth of Scottish traditional music and being preserved for posterity.
