This is a rare opportunity to get up close with items that are rarely on show to the public with a specialist tour of both Emery Walker’s House and the nearby William Morris Society premises. The tour will explore the Arts & Crafts textiles in both collections, including exquisite examples of May Morris’ work.
The event will start at Kelmscott House where you will be led by textiles and embroidery expert Sally Roberson. Following tea/coffee and biscuits, the tour begins with an introduction to The William Morris Society’s textile collection. A short walk along the river will then take us to 7 Hammersmith Terrace, where you will be able to view and hear about the textiles in situ at this recently restored Arts & Crafts gem.
Please note that due to the historic nature of the properties this tour will involve a large amount of standing and walking including stairs.
