Drop in to experience artist Zephie Begolo’s work
This event is part of a series of micro residencies in The Everybody Gallery, with a range of artists working with us over the coming months. Check out this page for more information.
About the Project
During the residency, Zephie will be making use of the time and space to experiment on a large scale for a new piece of work entitled ‘Hybrid States // Liminal Bodies’.
Working with ceramics, sculpture, photography, moving image and sound, Zephie will explore connection, and merging with nature as a response to our critically damaged relationship with the natural world.
Zephie’s project will explore avenues for re-establishing a connection to nature and more specifically, the landscape of the Calder Valley, by reclaiming the space, re-imagining our place within it and creating work that reflects this renewed relationship.
During the residency Zephie will be running workshops with groups to foster a space for cultural and creative exchange, envisioning a new relationship with our own bodies and the landscape of the Calder Valley.
Using foraged clay, textiles and other materials, while drawing on folklore and traditions from when our relationship with the natural world was much more intertwined, we will reimagine what ritual, self-representation and connection with nature might look like in our modern and increasingly digital world.
About the Artist
Zephie is a multi-disciplinary artist working in a variety of media to explore our relationship with nature, ourselves and each other.
