'A Chip Off The Old Pot'
Hear John Sandon recount his father Henry Sandon's life story through the pots he loved best.
Henry and John Sandon are the father and son team on BBC’s Antiques Roadshow. People often say to John, “You sound just like your father…” This fills him with pride, for Henry taught his son to love every piece of porcelain, (even that infamous owl!).
About John Sandon:
A ceramic upbringing in the City of Worcester led John into a career in auctioneering. During 45 years with Phillips and Bonhams, he directed the Ceramics and Glass departments in New Bond Street and presided over many celebrated auctions. He still found time to write hundreds of articles and eight specialist books on porcelain and glass, including his important Dictionary of Worcester Porcelain. Since 1985 John has been a familiar face on BBC's Antiques Roadshow. He is President of the London Ceramics Circle at Morley College, also President of the Caughley Society, and a Trustee of the Museum of Royal Worcester.
