Come listen to the extraordinary story of Salim C. Wilson, born the son of a Dinka chieftain, he was enslaved and emancipated in 1878. He came to England and went to a village school before becoming a preacher across the North of England. In 1911 he came to live in Scunthorpe and created national attention by marrying his landlady, Eliza Holden. Salim’s story is told by Adrian Gray, a Cambridge-educated historian, specialising in the counties of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.
