East London Art Prize Shortlist Exhibition with live music performances by Gusty Ferro and Joseph Ijoyemi between 7-8pm.
An afterhours chance to explore this year’s East London Art Prize Shortlist Exhibition (6-9pm), alongside two exclusive live music performances by exhibiting artists Gusty Ferro and Joseph Ijoyemi between 7-8pm.
Bow Arts’ East London Art Prize celebrates the talent and diversity of art made in east London. This exhibition will present 12 incredible artworks shortlisted for the second iteration of the Prize. Read more about the exhibition here.
For this special late opening, Gusty will be activating their shortlisted installation Untitled (2024) by dismantling and assembling elements of the work. Using contact mics and electronic devices, these interactions with the materials in displacement are going to create live soundscapes. The performance explores notions of tension between the body, objects and the physical infrastructure that surrounds us in the city. Building on from the shortlisted work Revival Boats (2023) for his live performance, Joseph will be performing live of Fragments (2025), a sound piece featuring recordings from his recent journey to Ondo, Nigeria, where he worked closely with traditional goldsmiths and blacksmiths. Drawing on the authentic sounds and conversations Joseph documented, the performance serves as both a tribute and a living archive, invoking the importance of remembering one’s roots and honouring cultural legacies passed through generations.
The Nunnery Gallery and Cafe will be open from 6-9pm, selling drinks and a range of tasty snacks and refreshments.
These performances will take place between 7-8pm in the Nunnery Gallery.
