Folk at the New Room: Eleven Magpies

27 February 2025
7.30pm - doors 7pm.
£16

Acoustic folk from multi-instrumental Bristol trio with music that encompasses a cinematic sweep and an intimate delicacy.

Rescheduled from 18 July 2024.

Eleven Magpies is led by Bristol-based composer, multi-instrumentalist and music director Ian Ross (Wise Children, Kneehigh), and features Alex Vann (Spiro, Three Cane Whale), Elizabeth Westcott (Yesterday’s Camel) and James Gow (Jow).

Together, they chart a whirling journey of plucked and bowed strings, through humorous miniatures and sorrowful madrigal-esque beauty, then up into unexpected flights that come to land in moments of serene stillness.

An evening of acoustic music by candlelight inspired by theatrical travels and reflections on grief, faith and joy.

7.30pm - doors 7pm. With support from Bristol Folk House Singers.Join us 6-7pm for our informal folk music session in the cafe-bar.
