Learn how to create simple but striking designs using woven tapestry techniques.
In this fun, relaxing workshop you will weave your own square, which once finished can be used as rug for your mug! Choose from a selection of designs or create your own with guidance from Lucy, who will have a full range of coloured wools for you to pick from. You decide if you want bold and bright, or soft muted tones to create your own unique woven piece.
Looms will be ready with warp attached so you can focus on weaving. Don’t know your warp from your weft, don’t worry this workshop is perfect for beginner weavers and anyone wishing to further develop skills!
Thursday 20 March, 7 - 9pm
£25 per person
This workshop is for adults and accompanied children aged 14 and over.
About the Tutor: Lucy is a woven tapestry artist who weaves from her studio in Letchworth Garden City. Her work is an exploration and development of process and fibres with light play and discarded fibres while sharing the beauty, tranquillity and needed balance she sees in local habitats.
It is important to Lucy to maintain a sustainable art practice by recycling and upcycling fibres, this has become an integral part of how she works and has a direct effect on design and size of a piece. Work is woven using good quality waste fibres, either from a craft stash, a box at the back of the garage, or from yarn suppliers and rug manufacturers.
A member of The British Tapestry Group, The Wynd Gallery and various textiles associations Lucy regularly exhibits locally and nationally, along with delivering talks, workshops, and courses.
