Join Island-based chandler Kathy ChilliWinter at Brading Roman Villa, and discover how Beeswax has been used in candle-making over the centuries.

With guidance, this session will introduce you to the process of hand-dipped tapered candle-making. You will use a dipping technique, with deep vats of molten, natural beeswax. This relaxing and wholesome sensory experience is an accessible and inclusive activity, and no previous experience is necessary.

Additional Workshop Information:

This candle-making technique can be messy – we will provide you with an apron, heat-resistant gloves, and safety glasses to wear. Please wear comfortable ‘old’ clothes and shoes; avoid trailing sleeves, scarves, and hair.

Refreshments are available from Brading Roman Villa's cafe, situated next to the workshop space, perfect for a drink and light snack, or for lunch before, or after your session. Participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the start time, to ensure the group starts promptly.

This is an accessible and inclusive activity, and no previous experience is necessary. Ages 12+ must be accompanied by a participating adult. All materials and equipment are provided. Participants will be standing and gripping for periods, so if you anticipate difficulty with this, a seated position can be accommodated. Please advise of any additional needs at the time of booking.
