Learn with a curator about Joséphine Bowes’ interest in fashion, both historic and contemporary in the collection.
Join Rachel Whitworth, Curator of Fashion & Textiles, to learn about Joséphine Bowes’ interest in fashion, both historic and contemporary, through fashion plates, magazines and her surviving clothes. This talk will examine her patronage of Charles Frederick Worth’s (1825-1895) couture house through bills found in The Bowes Museum’s archive and set Joséphine in the context of fashionable society in the mid 19th century.
