A 200th anniversary exhibition celebrating the legacy of Joséphine Bowes and her creative vision.
Marking 200 years since the birth of Joséphine Bowes, this exhibition honours her pioneering role in art and collecting. Showcasing three centuries of paintings, sculptures, textiles, and ceramics, it brings together highlights from The Bowes Museum’s collection alongside significant loans from the UK, Europe, and the United States.
Featured artists range from Pablo Picasso and Grayson Perry to contemporary names like Joy Labinjo and Lucy Waters. A special commission by Phoebe Cummings further reflects Joséphine’s innovative approach, demonstrating how her eclectic vision continues to inspire artists today.
