Marvel at the neon lights and sculptural works by one of the UK’s leading contemporary artists.
Compton Verney is proud to present a new solo exhibition by renowned UK contemporary artist Chila Kumari Singh Burman MBE (b.1957). Opening in autumn 2024, the exhibition will include new and recent neon and sculptural pieces, alongside earlier prints, collages and films. The work will span Burman's forty-year exploration of her Punjabi heritage in conjunction with feminism and a working-class Liverpool upbringing.
In addition, a large-scale intervention to the façade of the house, incorporating Burman's distinctive neons, will accompany the exhibition inside. This will be a unique opportunity to see the evolution of Burman's artistic journey via the diverse body of her work.
