Experience the first exhibition of Leonora Carrington’s artwork in the East of England
Dive deep into the extraordinary personal and creative world of British-Mexican artist Leonora Carrington and meet the friends and artists she met on her travels. Featuring over 70 artworks, alongside artefacts, archival material and objects such as fossils and skeletons, the exhibition demonstrates the artist’s many mystical and magic influences: religious iconography, patriarchal motifs, witchcraft and fairytales.
In recent years, Carrington’s popularity has soared. In May 2024, she became the most valuable British-born female artist at auction. The show coincides with the 50th anniversary of her seminal surrealist novel, The Hearing Trumpet, published in 1974.
