Marvel at glittering jewels and opulent objects from the Mughal Court's Golden Age.
Travel back to the Golden Age of the Mughal Court (c.1560-1660) in this major exhibition celebrating the significant artistic achievements of the time, marked by pioneering creativity and an internationalist culture. The exhibition chronologically details the reigns of three emperors – Emperors Akbar (r.1556-1605) Jahangir (r.1605-1627) and Shah Jahan (r.1628-1658) – and the creative outputs of the courts.
Marvel at over 200 objects, including rare paintings, illustrated manuscripts, luxurious carpets and delicate textiles, plus opulent architectural pieces and objects made with pearl, crystals, jade and precious metals. Learn about how an international culture flourished out of the Mughal courts, where Hindustani, Iranian and European artists collaborated to create hybrid art.
