Cliffe Castle Museum
A listed Victorian building, Cliffe Castle Museum is home to important collections in geology, natural history, local history and stained glass.
Originally built in the 1880s for a wealthy textile manufacturer, Henry Isaac Butterfield, the grand Victorian mansion on the outskirts of Keighley, West Yorkshire boasts stunning architecture and opulent interiors. Today, it's a museum offering a glimpse into Victorian life alongside a diverse collection spanning history, nature, and art.
Grand interiors
Explore the sparkling reception rooms, complete with period furniture, paintings, and decorative art. Admire intricate details, from the glittering chandeliers to the ornate fireplaces. The museum also sheds light on the Butterfields who hosted many glittering social events and had connections to the American Roosevelts, a detail reflected in some of the exhibits.
Stained glass
Marvel at the vibrant colours and intricate craftsmanship of the beautiful collection of stained glass by Morris & Co., a renowned British design firm. Cliffe Castle also features changing exhibitions, showcasing contemporary art alongside selections from their vast collections.

The grounds surrounding the mansion are perfect for a family outing. Children will love the exciting play area, and the aviary and small animal houses, home to budgies, guinea pigs and rabbits. While everyone can enjoy exploring the beautiful Victorian gardens. Take a stroll through the water features, woodland areas, and even spot some exotic plants in the glasshouses.

Cliffe Castle has newly restored its glorious stained glass window on the central stairs and Cliffe Castle Park has had a major refurbishment and forms a beautiful backdrop for the museum - with an excellent café!
