Housed in the former R & WH Symington corset factory, the museum offers a captivating journey through time, showcasing the story of Market Harborough. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply curious about the town's heritage, the Harborough Museum offers an enriching experience.

Roman treasure

Discover the internationally renowned Hallaton Treasure, a hoard of Iron Age artefacts unearthed in 2000. Over 5,000 coins and a stunning Roman cavalry helmet are just a few of the captivating objects that provide a glimpse into the lives of the area's early inhabitants.

The Harborough Collection

Comprising of approximately 18,000 items of local and social history, the Harborough Collection reflects village life, local trades and commerce, and the influence that the town has on its surrounding area. The Market Harborough Historical Society’s wonderful collection of curiosities has dedicated displays including Ancient Egyptian pottery, a Mastodon tooth and the evocative drummer boy’s jacket of the Market Harborough Volunteers, 1806.

Face coverings are not required but advised when inside Harborough Museum. Hand sanitiser is provided around the museum.

Refurbishments

Harborough Museum, and The Symington Building which houses the museum, were both refurbished in 2014 and include accessible toilets, accessible level entrances, platform and passenger lifts.
