The Royal Navy's sole survivor of the Battle of Jutland, HMS Caroline offers an immersive experience of life on board a battleship.
Based in Belfast’s historic Titanic quarter, HMS Caroline is now a floating museum exploring its history from the 1916 Battle of Jutland, which changed the course of the First World War, to its decommissioning in 2011 as the second oldest ship still in Royal Navy service.
Catch the dramatic short film showing how the Battle of Jutland unfolded from the ship’s decks, and immerse yourself in life below by visiting the faithfully recreated Captain’s Quarters, Marines’ Mess, Sick Bay, Galley and Engine Rooms.
State-of-the-art displays explore the various other roles played by HMS Caroline throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, including service as a strategic operations base during the Second World War and headquarters for the Ulster Division of the Royal Navy Reserves.
You can learn all about the many different crew members who served on board, particularly the Wrens, while trying your own hand at cracking codes, signalling with semaphore, and even controlling the ship from a virtual bridge.
