As you enter the Museum of Hartlepool, you are taken back 5,000 years to the Bronze Age and introduced to the museum by Hartlepool's oldest known man.

The museum's diverse collection boasts something for everyone. You can meet ‘Hartlepool's oldest man,’ a Bronze Age skeleton, then move through the centuries and delve into local legends like the mischievous Hartlepool monkey.
Interactive exhibits
Discover the Three Brothers Grant coble, a traditional type of fishing boat believed to be first developed on the North East coast. Learn about the world of paddle steamers and climb aboard the restored P S Wingfield Castle.
