The Stone of Destiny
Discover the centrepiece of the museum: the Stone of Destiny, otherwise known as the Stone of Scone. This historic artefact is a powerful Scottish symbol and has been used in the inauguration of Scottish monarchs since 1249. After being stolen as war loot by King Edward I of England, it now returns to Perthshire for the first time in 700 years and was even used in the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023.

The Museum is open 7 days a week.
From 1st November to 31st March winter opening hours will be as follows:
Monday – 10am – 5pm

Saturday – 10am – 5pm
Sunday – 11am – 4pm
