The Powysland Museum

Upstairs, the Powysland Museum showcases the rich archaeology and social history of Montgomeryshire with two main galleries. The first one delves into how life in mid-Wales has changed over time. Here, you'll find exhibits on traditional trades, pubs, the influence of fashion icon Laura Ashley, and even displays about the impact of wars on the region, including the Montgomeryshire Yeomanry.

The second gallery takes the visitor on a chronological tour of local archaeological finds from the prehistoric, the Ancient Romans to the early Medieval period. The displays include archaeological finds from locals and excavations carried out by the Clwyd -Powys Archaeological Trust.

The Welshpool Library

The ground floor houses the Welshpool Library, a vibrant community hub. Browse a wide selection of books, audiobooks, and a dedicated local history section. The library also offers free Wi-Fi.
