The Black Watch Castle & Museum houses treasures from Scotland's oldest Highland regiment, in Perth's Balhousie Castle.
Set in beautiful gardens and grounds in the heart of Perth, Balhousie Castle is the ancestral home of The Black Watch regiment and the distinctive setting for this military museum.
Nationally significant collection
The permanent exhibitions contain important items, gathered by the regiment throughout its history, from the its formation in 1739, right up to recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Incredible artefacts on display span two and a half centuries of The Black Watch, illustrating a history of honour, gallantry and devoted service to King, Queen and country.
Military heritage
Explore the galleries, each of which will immerse you in a different stage of the regiment’s history. Inspect uniforms and medals, weapons and military equipment, along with personal stories from photographs, diaries and film.
Shop
Choose from selection of souvenirs, jewellery, beauty products and artisan foods from local Scottish suppliers, or grab yourself some regimental clothing or Black Watch Tartan at the gift shop.
Bistro @ The Castle
Drinks, snacks and a seasonal menu is available in the informal restaurant located alongside the historic Balhousie Castle. Book ahead for afternoon tea or Sunday lunch.
The Black Watch Museum and Castle offers a guided tour and a regular programme of special events, exhibitions and talks. The museum is family friendly, just ask at reception for a Hands on History Pack for kids.
