Art Funded by you

Bracelet

Giovanni Corvaja, 1999

© Giovanni Corvaja

This work was purchased as part of Art Fund Collect at the Craft Council's international fair Collect. Art Fund Collect was a competitive challenge where shortlisted curators of public collections had just one hour to choose an object for their museum or gallery's permanent collection, ahead of private collectors. Mima was among the ten shortlisted institutions and this work was purchased outright by the Art Fund. This work juxtaposes intricate detail with bold geometric shapes and is made from 18 carat gold and 22 carat gold wire. Corvaja studied in Padua, Italy, a centre for goldsmithing, and is renowned for his avant-garde approach.
